Visionary Beginnings
Behind the all successful and progressive institutions some brilliant, far seen brains work. Similarly in this area the missionary and visionary personality S. Piara Singh Ji worked day and night to facilitate the people of this area with a good educational institution and a charitable Hospital. The most important job was the smooth working and undisputed management to run the institution. So he decided to form a trust of selfless and non- political persons. In the gathering of dignitaries of all the neighbouring villages, names of the trustees were proposed and S. Piara Singh Ji was unanimously nominated the founder president of the trust.
The trust was formed to manage school and dispensary. Now, S. Baldev Singh Sidhu, is the president of the trust. He is managing all the institution related to trust with honesty, hard work and sincere efforts.

Our Legacy: A Cradle of Knowledge, Valor, and Unity
Punjab has the honour of having the very first school of humanity, at ‘Taxila Pothohar’. This school was set up almost thousands of years ago. After the evolution of alphabets first book of humanity ‘Rigveda’ was written by Saints in the sacred land of five rivers, Punjab. Even the foundation of Jalandhar city was laid by the great scholar ‘Jalandhar Nath Jogi'. City of Jalandhar lies in the heart of Doaba. During 18th century, an era of holocausts, founder of ‘Singhpuria Misal’ Nawab Kapoor Singh Built ‘Kachi Garhi’ at Lambra, an adjoining village in the south of Jalandhar City. This ‘Garhi’ Was built for providing protection to the city. Baba Khushal Singh laid down his life while fighting an historical battle in this ‘Garhi’. Gurudwara has been built on his place of martyrdom. It has been a place of reverence for the people of all castes and religions of this area.
A Community’s Tribute and Collective Effort
Khalsa School, esteemed educational institution of this area, was named after this great warrior, with the unanimous decision of the ‘Sangat’. This congregation decided that the management of this temple of education be handed over to some dedicated persons of the area. To give practical shape to this idea, Guru Gobind Singh’s Gurupurab was celebrated on January 5, 1985. With the sincere initiative of S. Piara Singh Ji Hussainpur wale and assurance of residents of the area for all possible help, a formal announcement for setting up this institution was made. S. Piara Singh promised to donate 1½ Kanal of land in the memory of his father S. Thakar Singh and Uncle S. Genda Singh. He also donated hefty amount of Rupees eighty thousand. He also promised to give two acres of land on very nominal price. People of the area also made liberal financial contributions. After making appeals to Sangat at Gurudwara, door to door campaign for getting financial assistance started. This campaign proved to be very fruitful and encouraging. As a result, 3 rooms and basic necessities for the school were ready within very short period of one month.

The Formal Foundation of the School
School formally started working on 14th April, 1986, sacred day of ‘Formation of Sikhism’, after ‘Bhog’ Ceremony of ‘Akhand Path’ and paying thanks to Almighty God. The school was formally inaugurated by Bibi Daan Kaur Ji, the then Principal of Layallpur Khalsa College for women, Jalandhar. An eminent and leading personality of the area Pandit Shaadi Ram performed the Ribbon Cutting ceremony and made the students enter newly constructed school rooms. Selection of teachers was made a few days earlier, on 31st March by a panel of experts comprising Ranjit Singh Bal, Principal, Guru Arjan Dev Khalsa Sr. Sec. School, Kartarpur, S. Ajit Singh Principal of Doaba Khalsa Model School, Jalandhar and Prof. Manjit Kaur Grewal, Head of Dept. of English in Layallpur Khalsa College For Women, Jalandhar, in the premises of Guru Nanak Cold Store.
The school became operational with 110 students, from Nursery to class 5th. Children were transported from adjoining villages by means of very small fleet of vehicles consisting of 1 hired van, 2 hired tempos and personal Jeep of S. Piara Singh. Initially school had meager staff of 6 teachers, 1 peon, 1 gardener and 1 clerk. With unanimous decision Honourable persons making financial contribution towards school, a 15 member committee was setup. It was made an independent body without any interference of Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee. Committee was to have its own constitution. Main aim of the committee was to cater for all round development of the children. School will hold an impartial attitude towards all types of groupism, communalism, fame, publicity and politics.
During this period, Punjab was under the shadow of terrorism and anarchy, everywhere. Though it had affected every walk of life yet education was the most sufferer. Affluent families of the village had migrated to cities. School and hospitals had nearly ruined. Accepting their situation as a challenge, committee a higher aim of saving Punjab’s rich cultural heritage by Linking over all development of children with their mother tongue, culture and religion. Mother tongue was given due place in the school. Efforts were made to develop a rational and scientific outlook among children. Plans were drawn to up lift the children in the fields of sports, culture and religion. With this aim in view it was decided that school will compulsorily hold at least four functions.
Leadership and Management
The managing committee was granted Constitutional Status. S. Piara Singh was selected life time Chairman (Pradhan) of the committee and the committee was got registered. 14 members of the committee were elected.
